After wins over defending Atlantic Hockey America champion Bentley and cross-town rival Air Force this past weekend, Colorado College hockey is once again ranked among the nation’s best. 

The Tigers came in at No. 19 in the USCHO poll released on Monday. CC returns to the nation’s top 20 for the first time since March 3. The Tigers are also ranked in the USA Hockey poll as the 20th and final team. 

The Tigers join four other teams from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in the USCHO’s top 20, including defending conference and national champions Western Michigan, ranked second; CC rival Denver, ranked fifth; North Dakota, ranked eighth; and Arizona State in 15th. The other four members of the NCHC Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State, Omaha and Miami of Ohio received votes. 

The Tigers are 3-1 through the first two weekends of the season, splitting their season-opening series Oct. 3-4 against then-No. 10 UConn and beating Bentley by a 5-2 margin on Oct. 10 and Air Force 4-2 to keep possession of the Pikes Peak Trophy on Oct, 11. 

CC will embark on its first road series of the season, traveling to Northern Michigan this weekend before a bye next week. Last year, the Tigers swept the Wildcats to open the season.
