CityVet expands into Colorado Springs
CityVet, a growing nationwide network of veterinarian-owned practices, has expanded into Colorado Springs.
Dallas-based CityVet officially opened its first Colorado Springs clinic late last month, on Sept. 29, at 9235 N. Union Blvd., Suite 5170 in Briargate. Owned and led by veterinarian Dr. Zuania Cordero, it is the seventh CityVet clinic in Colorado. Six others are located throughout the Denver Metro region.

“Opening our seventh clinic in Colorado is another proud milestone for CityVet, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Dr. Cordero leading the way,” CityVet CEO and President David Boguslawski said in a September news release. “Her remarkable journey, clinical expertise and the way she embraces her clients and their pets as family make her the perfect partner to bring our mission to life in Colorado Springs. We’re confident CityVet Briargate will quickly become a trusted resource for pets and families in the community.”
The clinic offers patients comprehensive services, including preventive care, urgent care, diagnostics, wellness plans, dental treatments, pain management, boarding, bathing and grooming, and general and advanced surgical procedures such as abdominal surgeries and amputations, according to the release and company website. CityVet Briargate also welcomes exotic pets.
Cordero is trilingual and offers services in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Claire Roberts is the clinic’s associate veterinarian.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Cordero received her undergraduate degree in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Puerto Rico, and her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Michigan State University.
She entered practice at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a challenging time she said helped shape her approach, taught her how to adapt and be resilient, and allowed her to connect with clients “in new ways.”
CityVet does not start building its practices until it has identified “the right” veterinarian as a partner, a company spokesperson said by email this week.
Cordero is “an exceptional clinician and proud member of the Briargate community,” the company said. “We knew Briargate was the perfect location, surrounded by passionate pet lovers who want the very best care for their furry family members.”
Cordero said CityVet stood out to her because they practice the values they preach.
“One of their five core values is ‘pick up the poop,’ which may sound lighthearted, but it represents humility and accountability. It means no task is beneath anyone when it comes to doing what’s best for the team, the client and the patient,” Cordero said in the release. “That level of integrity and commitment to doing the right thing simply because it’s the right thing to do is exactly how I want to practice medicine and lead my clinic.”
Dr. Chip Cannon opened CityVet in 1999 to better serve the clients who came to his Dallas clinic, with a focus on exceptional service, convenience and affordability, the website states.
More than 25 years later, CityVet has 67 clinics throughout eight states, with more locations coming soon in Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Utah. Each CityVet location is owned and led by veterinarians.
