Retaining wall work at the intersection of CO 105 and Jackson Creek Parkway is nearing completion, the Town of Monument said in a project update email.

The retaining wall will make way for the eastbound right-turn lane onto Highway105 from Jackson Creek Parkway. New traffic signal work at the intersection is scheduled to begin early this month.

Wildcat, the project’s contractor, is still looking to complete the project by the end of this year.

The town said that concrete barrier traffic control for this project is in place and that work will occur inside that barrier wall. There will be no access restrictions to businesses.

Motorists are advised to watch for trucks entering/exiting the construction area and for reduced speeds during construction.

Some upcoming work will impact traffic patterns. Among those projects are:

Continuing to grade the east side of Jackson Creek Parkway in preparation for road base, curb and gutter installation

Installing two “pork chop” islands at the Highway 105/Jackson Creek Parkway intersection

Two-inch “Mill and Overlay” work along Highway 105 (I-25 off-ramp to the east side of the Jackson Creek Parkway intersection)

Striping along Highway 105 once the mill and overlay work is completed

Storm mainline pipe installation down Jackson Creek Parkway

Roadway subgrade prep and road base installation along Jackson Creek Parkway

Paving followed by striping Jackson Creek Parkway

“The Jackson Creek Parkway Widening Project is part of an overall improvements program designed to address community needs and desires for the entire corridor that will also accommodate existing and future development,” the project website says. “The widening project specifically involves expanding Jackson Creek Parkway from one lane in each direction to two lanes in each direction, extending the four-lane configuration from Higby Road north to the intersection of Highway 105. The project also includes drainage improvements, median landscaping, pedestrian and bike pathways, and ‘Gateway’ treatments.”
