Colorado Springs weather: Cold, misty Tuesday forecast ahead of warmup

Another misty day with below-average seasonal temperatures is expected across southern Colorado Tuesday before warmer highs return for the rest of the week.

Highs will be about 10-15 degrees below seasonal averages, according to Gazette news partner KOAA. The fog is expected to partially clear along the Interstate 25 corridor and Eastern Plains later in the day, slightly warming temperatures to around 58 degrees.

“I’m not concerned about any widespread rainfall here in the Springs today, certainly no snow,” said KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose.

By around 6 p.m. Tuesday, clouds will have slightly cleared, bringing a partial mix of sun and clouds, but another round of clouds and fog will return later in the night.

Wednesday morning will look much the same, but a building ridge of high pressure will lead to “ample sunshine” and “significant warming” by the afternoon, Rose said.

Highs will “soar” into the middle to upper 70s on Wednesday and possibly break into the 80s by Thursday.

Here’s the forecast for Colorado Springs by the National Weather Service for the rest of the week:

Friday: Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 76 degrees, and there will be a very small chance for showers and storms. Temperatures will drop to around 54 degrees headed into the night with a slightly higher chance for rain.

Saturday: The sun will partially return Saturday, warming temperatures to around 77 degrees. Saturday night will drop to a low of around 51 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

Sunday: Temperatures will continue to stay into the 70s with sunny skies. Sunday night temperatures will drop to around 41 degrees.
