One person questioned after field fire in Colorado Springs
A fire of off Astrozon Boulevard near the Hancock Expressway was quickly extinguished by firefighters on Monday evening and resulted in one person being handcuffed.
Colorado Springs Fire Captain Eric Nappo told The Gazette at the scene that the fire was put out within “seconds” of getting water on it after several 911 calls.
No injuries were reported, and police were questioning people at the scene, according to Nappo.
The fire was about 625 square feet in a 25-by-25-foot perimeter in a homeless camp, Nappo said. The cause is unknown at this time, but Nappo advised those starting fires outside to adhere to burning guidelines, avoid burning trash and have plenty of water nearby.
A Gazette reporter witnessed one individual in handcuffs talking with officers. Police did not confirm whether anyone was arrested, detained or being questioned.
