Colorado Springs police saw a plane crash, fatal collisions and domestic abuse, among dozens of other offenses, last week, making a total of 320 arrests, according to department records.

From Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, the Colorado Springs Police Department posted 16 blotter entries to its public database of arrests approved for public release. Here is a recap of those entries: 

On Sept. 28, a head-on collision between two vehicles near Martin Luther King Bypass and South Circle Drive left one driver dead and the other driver in “serious but stable” condition. The Police Department’s Major Crash Team is heading the investigation of the crash.

On Wednesday, just after 4 a.m., police responded to North Powers Boulevard and Barnes Road, where a small, non-commercial airplane emergency landed. No injuries were reported.

Later on Wednesday, the department’s Homeless Outreach Team worked with other units to cite 11 people who were illegally camping at an abandoned motel in the 1600 block of South Nevada Avenue. Narcotics paraphernalia was recovered and police say five of the people contacted had outstanding warrants.

On Thursday, a 26-year-old woman died in a motorcycle crash when her bike lost control in the 4000 block of Maizeland Road. Police say it does not seem that excessive speed or impairment were a factor in the crash.

On Thursday night, a Colorado Springs man, Shawn Swanson, was arrested after fleeing officers at a traffic stop, then barricading himself in his apartment, where officers had to forcefully enter and “negotiate” with him. Swanson had a felony warrant and now faces new traffic violation charges.

On Friday, CSPD worked with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to arrest a wanted suspect, Anthony Kent, 35. Police used drone and K-9 teams to monitor Kent, and arrested him after a short foot pursuit. During his arrest, two handguns, two rifles, a semi-automatic shotgun and a “small amount” of narcotics were recovered.

Also on Friday, a man was driving southbound on North Powers Boulevard, approaching Research Parkway, when he lost control of his vehicle and was ejected. Police say alcohol and speed were a factor in the crash and that charges are pending.

On Saturday, just after 1 a.m., Steven Vigil, 37, was arrested by officers using a PIT maneuver after he allegedly shot a woman in the abdomen and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released.

Later on Saturday, Chaz Kimble, 36, was arrested after a “family disturbance,” leading to him allegedly punching an officer in the face. Police say a Taser was deployed, but was ineffective, so additional officers responded to aid in arrest. Police learned that before contacting Kimble, he allegedly strangled a family member.

More incidents at a glance

• On Sept. 28, Floyd Hein, 31, was arrested after threatening someone with a stolen handgun and camping illegally. Police recovered the gun at the time of Hein’s arrest.
• On Monday, police responded to an active robbery in the 700 block of North Academy Boulevard. Officers learned that a male suspect entered a store with a weapon and stole several items, but by the time they arrived, he was gone. No arrests have been made.
• On Thursday, Jeffrey Wallace, 38, was arrested on suspicion of his involvement with a previous stabbing case, after a short police pursuit by a K-9 officer.
• On Friday, just after noon, a car stalling on North Powers Boulevard north of Barnes Road caused three crashes, involving 12 vehicles. No injuries were reported.
• Also on Friday, three women were arrested after being found in a car reported stolen in Aurora. Two face charges of motor vehicle theft, and a third was arrested on a preexisting warrant.
• On Saturday, Dominic Vigil, 33, was arrested after allegedly brandishing a gun and throwing a soda at another vehicle during a road rage incident.
