Lawsuit against Palmer Lake dismissed

The Town of Palmer Lake had a win and a loss late last week.

On the plus side, a lawsuit against the town was dismissed. That was followed immediately by the resignation of town trustee and Mayor Pro-tem Amy Hutson.

The suit had been filed by the Colorado Springs-based political group Integrity Matters.

“The Court’s ruling confirms that the claims brought against the Town were without sufficient legal basis to move forward,” the press release from Palmer Lake said. “While the order itself is concise, it firmly upholds the key arguments the Town presented and provides a solid foundation should an appeal be pursued.”

Integrity Matters filed the lawsuit over Palmer Lake’s handling of the proposed Buc-ee’s development and public meetings. Most of the group’s listed donors had Monument addresses.

Due in part to that same group, Hutson announced her resignation.

“I have been yelled at, defamed, accused of wrongdoing, and sued,” Hutson wrote on a release on the town’s website. “‘Integrity’ Matters is a joke. Look it up. Look up also that they tried to get the town to pay $775,000 to settle.

“My skin is too thin and I’m too bitter at this point to carry out my office. I officially resign my position as a Palmer Lake Trustee as of today October 3rd , 2025.”
