Colorado Springs police arrest ‘prolific’ car theft offender
A “prolific” car theft convict is accused of stealing another car after police connected her to a stolen car in Colorado Springs, authorities say.
The car, a gray 2006 Toyota Corolla, was reportedly stolen on Sept. 30 in Aurora after its owner left the keys in the ignition.
The Colorado Springs Police Department spotted the stolen car near East Fountain Boulevard and South Chelton Road at 4:15 p.m. Friday, according to an online police blotter entry.
Police attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled. Officers later spotted it near Boggs Place and Preuss Road.
Police arrested the driver — the prolific offender — and a passenger on suspicion of motor vehicle theft. Officers also took a second passenger into custody in connection with multiple outstanding warrants, according to the blotter entry.
