A small plane crashed at the La Junta Airport while landing on Thursday evening, according to a post on social media by the La Junta Fire Department.

The only occupant of the plane was conscious and alert after the crash and was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. The post stated the plane was not leaking fluids and was stable.

Deputies from the Otero County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the incident and took control of the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were contacted about the crash.
