Parolee arrested, stolen vehicle recovered in El Paso County
El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a parolee who was driving a stolen car in an unincorporated part of the county Monday, according to a release by the office.
Deputies were conducting a patrol near the Econolodge Hotel in the 6700 block of Spruce Village Avenue when they observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen truck.
The release stated a male in a black shirt was seen near the 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck. He entered the truck and attempted to leave the area.
Deputies prevented an escape by positioning a marked patrol car in front of the vehicle and turned on its emergency lights, the release stated.
The driver had three passengers in the truck, including two children, when deputies encountered him. After being blocked from the front, he reversed into another marked patrol unit, stopping the truck, according to the release.
A search of the truck found methamphetamine, heroin and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Jonathan Madrid, 31, was on parole for motor vehicle theft and robbery, according to the release. He was charged on Monday with motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, attempted vehicular eluding and child abuse.
