A Mexican restaurant staple in Colorado Springs that has been in operation for 55 years announced its permanent closure on social media Tuesday.

Señor Manuel Mexican Cuisine had been closed since a fire in July 2024 caused by an electrical malfunction of a neon transformer, according to previous reporting by The Gazette. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which took 70 firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish.

The restaurant’s reopening process came to an end after “unforeseen complications and developments” arose during the rebuilding process, according to the social media post.

“We watched our family grow alongside many others during our time. We have shared memories of babies eating their first beans, graduations, marriages, celebrations of life, and so much more. Countless cherished moments of life were founded within those walls, and we’re incredibly thankful for the 55 years we had and everyone we met along the way,” the post stated.
