Body found slumped over inside vehicle in Colorado Springs

A homicide investigation is underway after authorities found a body with apparent gunshot wounds slumped over inside a “suspicious” vehicle parked close to a major Colorado Springs road just before midnight Thursday.

Officers spotted the car in the 300 block of Wooten Road, near East Platte Avenue and South Academy Boulevard. As they approached, it became evident the person inside was dead, the Colorado Springs Police Department stated in an online blotter entry.

Caitlin Ford, a Police Department spokesperson, identified the person as a man who had “at least” one gunshot wound.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities have not shared circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The scene is located near an RV park and a storage unit facility.
