Deion Sanders, Colorado expect to have key linemen available vs. BYU | Buffs notebook
BOULDER — Take a deep breath, Buffs nation.
“The Franchise” should be good to go against BYU (8:15 p.m. Saturday, ESPN). After missing the second half of the win over Wyoming with what was reportedly a hamstring injury, Colorado’s star sophomore left tackle Jordan Seaton won’t miss additional time, Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders said Tuesday.
“The two big linemen, we plan on seeing them,” Coach Prime said.

CU also expects to have starting defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain back after he did not dress against Wyoming and was seen with a brace on his knee.
That’s where the good injury news stops, however.
The Buffs don’t seem confident running backs DeKalon Taylor and Simeon Price, both of whom exited last week’s game in the second half, will be available vs. BYU. Sanders mentioned CU has made adjustments to the running back room, potentially moving wide receiver Dre’lon Miller there for the time being.
“We plan on doing some things,” Sanders said.
CU is also unsure of the status of a pair of defensive starters, defensive end Samuel Okunlola and cornerback RJ Johnson. Okunlola was a regular starter all of last season but has yet to appear in a game in 2025, while Johnson played the first three games before missing the most recent game.
Buffs have found good practice schedule for night games
Sanders hates night games.
Coach Prime has said most nights he’s often in bed before some of the kickoff times the Buffs have had during his tenure.

Last week against Wyoming was one of the dreaded 8:15 p.m. kickoff times, and CU has another one on the schedule this week against BYU.
After lamenting his team’s struggles in night games following a disappointing loss to Houston in Week 3 — a Friday night game that kicked off just after 6:30 p.m. locally — Coach Prime changed things up and had his team practice at night the two days prior to last week’s game.
They’ll do the same this week.
“We made plans to keep similar schedules,” Sanders said. “It impacted us tremendously because we understood how to turn our bodies off and on. The kids understood that they needed rest because of the night game so they could come out and have a great start. Although we got some penalties up front defensively, they came out with energy. Offensively, we came out with energy and that’s what we want to do, especially at home.”
Coach Prime has no problem with no transfer portal window
As long as everyone is playing by the same rules, Sanders doesn’t care what the transfer portal window looks like.
Last week, the NCAA Administrative Committee announced the removal of the spring transfer portal window with one window now set for January, with an exact length to be determined later this fall.
The Buffs have been particularly active in the post-spring practices portal window under Coach Prime, but have no worries about adjusting to the now singular period in which they’ll be able to attract transfers to Boulder.
“We’re gonna get what we want, we always do, and when we don’t get what we want, that means somebody offered more money. That’s it,” Sanders said. “We’re gonna scout the players and hopefully we get the type of guys that’s not coming here to play for money; they’re coming here because they want to play for the Colorado Buffaloes and they want to play up under this team and how we do things. It is what it is. As long as the playing field is level for everyone, I have no complaints.”
