Two arrested after stop in Pueblo finds drugs, guns and body armor

A Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputy arrested two people in Pueblo after finding drugs and a gun in a vehicle with improper registration, according to a release by the office Monday.

While on a routine patrol, the deputy noticed a 2001 Chevy 2500 at Dollar General in east Pueblo with a temporary registration that did not match the vehicle.

The passenger of the vehicle, Tamara Rodriguez, 30, had two outstanding warrants and was taken into custody, according to the release. Deputies allegedly found 8.5 grams of methamphetamine on her during a routine search.

Rodriguez also allegedly had assorted drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun in her backpack. The release stated Richard Rigg, 55, exited the store and told deputies the truck belonged to him, but he did not have proof of ownership.

Before the truck was towed, deputies found a loaded handgun, two magazines, a M-4 rifle, assorted body armor and tools, several bags of methamphetamine, approximately 40 fentanyl pills and drug paraphernalia during a preliminary search.

Both were booked into the Pueblo County Jail and charged with:

  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful distribution, manufacturing, and dispensing of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Rigg was also charged with possession of burglary tools.
