Colorado Springs weather: Temperatures to dip, snow forecast in Pikes Peak region

The forecast for the first full week of autumn in the Pikes Peak region calls for temperatures dipping into the 30s in some areas, welcoming a short cold front to the area.

Snow in the forecast for Pikes Peak’s Summit, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo. The Weather Service predicts that warm temperatures into the 80s should return by Thursday.

Meteorologist Mike Garberoglio with the Weather Service several mountain ranges in the state have snow in their forecast this week.

Garberoglio said the cold front brings temperatures around 15 degrees cooler than the weather patterns we have been seeing recently, but the cold temperatures won’t stick around for long.

Forecast for the Springs

Monday in Colorado Springs will be partly sunny with afternoon and evening showers, mostly after 5 p.m. There is a predicted high of 77 degrees and a nighttime low of 45 degrees.

Tuesday will see that big temperature decrease, with a high of 56 degrees and a nighttime low of 42 degrees. There is a 70% chance of daytime showers and a 40% chance of evening showers, with the possibility of a quarter-inch or more precipitation.

Wednesday will creep back up to higher temps, with a high of 67 degrees and a nighttime low of 42 degrees. There is a 10% chance of thunderstorms and showers after 3 p.m.

Thursday will have clear skies and high temperatures, marking an official end to the cold front, with a predicted high of 77 degrees and a nighttime low of 47 degrees.

Friday will keep those clear skies, with a high of 79 degrees and a nighttime low of around 49 degrees.

More for the Pikes Peak region

Woodland Park will match Colorado Springs’s weather pattern, seeing low temperatures on Tuesday, then increasing throughout the week. Thunderstorms are predicted Monday through Wednesday evening, bringing a chance of more than a half-inch of precipitation.

Tuesday’s high in Woodland Park is expected to be around 48 degrees, with a nighttime low of 34 degrees. By Friday, temperatures will be back in the low 70s with clear skies.

The summit of Pikes Peak has much lower temperatures in its forecast, and the cold front will linger longer at the higher altitude. Snow is predicted from Monday night to Wednesday, with a possibility of 8 inches, in total.

Tuesday’s expected high on Pikes Peak is 30 degrees, with a nighttime low of 25 degrees. The cold front will linger, with Wednesday’s high being 37 degrees and a nighttime low of 28 degrees. By Friday, skies will be clear, once again, with temperatures into the high 40s.
