This year’s Breakfast of Champions®, Peak Vista Community Health Centers Foundation’s long-running, premier fundraising event supporting the organization’s mission to provide exceptional health care to people facing access barriers through clinical programs and education, will welcome Olympic legend Carl Lewis as its keynote speaker and honor Dr. Patrick Faricy, a longtime advocate of the organization. The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at The Broadmoor’s International Center, 1 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, starting at 7 a.m.

Lewis, one of the most decorated American Olympians in history, participated in four Olympic Games — in Los Angeles, Seoul, Barcelona and Atlanta — winning a total of nine gold and one silver medal. He also qualified for the boycotted games of 1980. At the 1984 Olympics, he dominated the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4×100 relay races and the long jump. He also won 10 World Championship medals in sprinting and long jumping. So, it comes as no surprise that the legendary track and field athlete has earned several nicknames, including “World Athlete of the Century,” by the International Association of Athletics Federations, “Sportsman of the Century” by the International Olympic Committee,” and “Olympian of the Century,” by Sports Illustrated magazine.

Today, Lewis serves as the head track and field coach at the University of Houston, and campaigns to bring about change for families, youth, education, wellness and fitness.

Sharing the Breakfast of Champions® spotlight with Lewis will be Dr. Patrick O. Faricy, who will be presented with the 2025 Champion of Community Health Award, recognizing his advocacy and position as a changemaker in community health.
