Police Lights and Sirens Law Enforcements

A man is in the hospital with a gunshot wound, and the shooter is still at large after an encounter involving a towed vehicle near downtown Colorado Springs Tuesday night, authorities said.

A group working for a local recovery company were reportedly loading a vehicle onto a tow truck shortly before 9 p.m. when a male suspect confronted them and ripped cameras off the truck, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department. As the truck left, the suspect allegedly fired “multiple rounds” and struck the vehicle.

Officers responded to the shooting, located west of Memorial Park in the area of 700 East Moreno Avenue, and found several shell casings, police said.

Police soon left the scene to speak with the workers inside a residence and found the man who had been shot. Officers issued medical care, and the man was transported to a nearby hospital.

The repossessed vehicle was seized as evidence for the investigation. It is unknown whether law enforcement has a lead on a suspect.
