An officer was treated for a minor injury after being struck in the head by debris following a vehicle striking a marked Colorado Springs police vehicle Thursday evening, according to a blotter entry from the department.
Police were conducting a traffic stop around 11 p.m. on southbound Interstate 25 at Circle Drive when a vehicle driven by a man suspected of drunken driving hit the right rear quarter panel of a Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to the Police Department, authorities said.
The suspect’s vehicle then rolled in the air, landing about 30 yards south of the traffic stop in the left shoulder, according to the entry.
Police arrested the suspect, Jamison Burnley, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, violation of a protective order and other traffic charges that were not specified.
