Colorado Springs weather: Wednesday to be hottest day of the week
Nick Smith, The Gazette
Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week for Colorado Springs and the rest of the region as the morning’s clear skies turn mostly cloudy and stormy in the afternoon, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.
Storms across the Pikes Peak Region will be mostly scattered outside of the mountains. There’s still a chance for stronger wind gusts and small hail on the eastern plains headed into the evening, KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose said.
Temperatures will be above normal, topping out to around 84 degrees for Colorado Springs, according to the National Weather Service.
Above normal temperatures are expected today and tomorrow, with cooler air and more near normal conditions likely by Friday. Chances for showers and thunderstorms are expected each day, especially over the high country. Chances for heavy rainfall are increasing for Friday. #cowx pic.twitter.com/LfB2OTA7Uy

Storms will continue to be a “hit or miss” for the Pikes Peak Region headed into Thursday, but the potential for heavy rain in the mountain will increase as the week continues, Rose said. Temperatures will stay warm with a high in the low 80s.
Friday will be the best chance for rain. Temperatures will cool to a high in the upper 70s.
Here’s the Colorado Springs forecast from the National Weather Service for the weekend:
Saturday: Recycled moisture will leave a chance for rain after noon. Skies will be mostly sunny with a high near 78 degrees. Saturday night temperatures will drop to around 48 degrees.
Sunday: The chance for rain diminishes Sunday, with temperatures topping out in the upper 70s during the day. Sunday night skies will be mostly clear with a low of around 51 degrees.
