Tri-Lakes news briefs for Sept. 10, 2025
Water woes
Monument Town Hall was closed Sept. 2 and 3 “to assess and address potential water damage and related concerns,” the town Facebook page said.
The Sept. 2 town council meeting was moved to the Tri-Lakes YCMA in the Young Life Teen Center.
Climber rescued
A climber was recovered after a lengthy technical rescue in the Rampart/Devil’s Head area on Sept. 1.
Douglas County Search and Rescue said that it was a two-pitch high-angle rescue to get to the subject and get him down. Then, there was a complex exposed carry with another shorter pitch high angle lowering. Rescue teams also had to get through various low-angle pitches through challenging terrain before making it to Rampart and the ambulance that took the patient to a helicopter.
The climber is now getting further care for injuries from the fall. DCSAR also said that the Larkspur Fire Protection District and Jackson 105 Fire Protection District helped with the rescue.
Matching donations
Through September 30, any donations made to benefit the Heart of Monument Play Park will be matched by a local family — up to a total of $50,000.
The park is a partnership between the Town of Monument, the Monument Hill Kiwanis and Monument Community Presbyterian Church.
