Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off updates: Balloons launch off Sunday morning

The 49th annual Labor Day Liftoff hot air balloon festival is underway this weekend at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

Balloons were cleared to launch on Sunday morning amid clear skies. The ballon glow event planned for Saturday night will include aerial acrobats, two concerts, vendors and a drone show. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. If weather cooperates, balloons will inflate for a static, illuminated display around 7:30 p.m.

Sunday morning’s successful launch comes after wind, rain and lightning on Saturday grounded the balloons.

The Saturday night balloon glow, and the launch on Monday morning are the remaining two events for this weekend’s festival.

Here’s a look at the schedule:


Sunday evening: Balloon glo

3:30 p.m. — Concessions, beer & mimosa gardens open; remote control balloon display

3:30–5 p.m. — Concert: Bobbi Kerr

4–8 p.m. — Aerial acrobats

6–7 p.m. — Concert: Sofakillers

7:30 p.m. — Balloon glow (weather permitting)

8:30–9:30 p.m. — Concert: Sofakillers

9:30 p.m. — Drone show

10 p.m. — Park and concessions close


Monday morning: Lift Off

5:15 a.m.: Park and concessions open

6 a.m: Drone show

7 a.m.: Balloon lift off; Beer & Mimosa Garden Open

8 a.m. Concert: 4ID Mile High Rock Band

9 a.m: Remote Control Balloon Display

10 am: Park and Concessions Close
