Highway 24 crash victim identified as 29-year-old

A passenger involved in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 24 on Tuesday suffered at least one gunshot wound, but how and why that happened remains unclear.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the passenger as 29-year-old Noel Gutierrez-Cano, whose cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy, according to a Friday news release.
The crash occurred at about 8:10 a.m. Tuesday at Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive near Judge Orr Road in unincorporated El Paso County.
The person who reported the crash indicated that a passenger in a white pickup truck towing a trailer was injured or deceased. Authorities said the driver fled before sheriff’s deputies arrived.
An investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Office is requesting dashcam and security footage around Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive between 8 and 10 a.m. Tuesday.
