Skiers and riders rejoice, another Colorado ski resort announced its opening date for winter 2025-26.
Copper Mountain, the Athlete’s Mountain, in Summit County announced Friday that it will open on Friday, Nov. 7.
“This week’s cold front really has us in the mood for winter at Copper,” Communications and Philanthropy Manager Olivia Butrymovich said in a statement Friday. “This season is shaping up to be one of our biggest yet at The Athlete’s Mountain.”
According to Butrymovich, during Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27–30, Copper Mountain will host the debut of the Stifel Copper Cup, bringing alpine racing back to the resort. The Stifel Copper Cup will feature men’s super-G, men’s giant slalom, women’s giant slalom and women’s slalom, with Mikaela Shiffrin leading the women’s field.
In addition to the races, Copper Mountain will offer festivities like free concerts, fireworks shows, a public bib draw ceremony, an award show and more.
Butrymovich said the action will continue with the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix World Cup on Dec. 19–20, as the world’s top skiers and riders return to Copper’s 22-foot superpipe. These back-to-back World Cup events give fans a rare chance to see elite athletes in action just weeks before the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
“We plan to share more updates about the event in the coming weeks” she said. “We will share additional updates about the event in the coming weeks. To learn more, visit coppercolorado.com.”
