El Paso County investigators are asking the community for help in finding a homicide suspect who was involved in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 24 Tuesday.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a crash on the highway between Woodmen and Judge Orr roads in unincorporated El Paso County.

The call indicated that a passenger in a white pickup truck towing a black trailer appeared to be seriously injured or deceased, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.

Death investigation underway after 3-vehicle crash on U.S. 24

The driver of the pickup truck reportedly left the scene after the crash without the passenger, identified by officials as a man.

“Deputies observed the victim’s injuries were inconsistent with those typically associated with traffic accidents, prompting a criminal investigation,” the news release said.

Investigators have yet to say how the man died, but they have indicated that they believe he died before the crash.

Investigators are looking into several leads and are asking people who were traveling near the highway and Blue Gill Drive between 8-10 a.m. or work/reside in the area to review any relevant footage they may have.

Any information can be reported to their tip line at 719-520-7777.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the crash is being investigated by Colorado State Patrol, which also responded to the scene.
