The National Weather Service in Pueblo issued a warning with “high” certainty that severe thunderstorms will impact most of the Pikes Peak region Sunday.
Hail measuring up to 1½ inches and 60 mph winds are forecast for El Paso County between 2 and 8 p.m. The weather agency also warned of localized flash floods in areas of heavy rainfall.

With each rainfall, the risk of flash flooding increases. Those in areas impacted by flash flooding should stay off roadways, as 12 inches of water can “sweep a car off the road,” the weather agency said. It reminded drivers to “turn around, don’t drown.”
As the ground gets wetter with each successive rainfall, the potential for Flash Flooding will increase as our monsoon weather pattern continues. If you encounter flooding, turn around, don’t drown! #cowx pic.twitter.com/KdJODZt7R4
