A post that’s been getting quite a bit of attention on Reddit in recent hours asks the Internet a simple question: “Which U.S. state do you think is viewed the most positively in general?”

The original poster suggests Colorado, noting that the Centennial State seems generally liked by Americans living in other states. Others chimed in and seemed to mostly agree.

Among reasons suggested for why Colorado is viewed the ‘most positively’ – or in other words, ‘least negatively’ included its varied politics, good weather, beautiful scenery, and outdoor recreation. Commenters putting Colorado on top claimed to live elsewhere in the country and even internationally.

“I always look forward to coming back to Colorado,” wrote on Redditor, with another writing “if you’re into mountain/outdoor activities and not super into the beach, there really aren’t many better places to live with the city amenities and jobs Denver has.”

Meanwhile, another commenter took the approach of directly considering which state was the ‘least hated,’ claiming that Colorado fit the bill as a “good pick just because it can appeal to both sides of the aisle.”

“Colorado is the best of both worlds,” wrote someone else. “Denver, in particular, has the mountains on one side, the prairies on the other, and neither is hard to get to. No carnivorous insects to speak of, doesn’t generally get too hot or cold (and it doesn’t last long if it does), and the city’s big enough to have anything you want to experience.”

“I didn’t realize how great the weather is until I moved away,” wrote someone else.

A few people did disagree, with some stating that Salt Lake City is a better option, noting it’s “what people think Denver is.”

Overall, Colorado seemed to get the most love throughout the 900 or so responses the post racked up in about 12 hours, with other top contenders being California, Montana, and Maine – the post did specify which ‘contiguous state,’ though some commenters did still mention Hawaii.
