An elderly homeowner stabbed a home intruder in the Stratmoor Valley Home Park on Wooddale Road on Wednesday morning, according to a release by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The 911 caller reported an intruder inside their home, and the homeowner told the man to leave but he did not. The release stated the homeowner then stabbed the suspect during an ensuing struggle.

After being stabbed, the suspect fled and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the suspect had run through two yards and damaged fences before collapsing in a backyard.

The suspect, Gareth Webb, 37, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Webb, a convicted felon, was charged with first-degree trespassing, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing, harassment and criminal mischief.

Webb will be booked into El Paso County jail after he is medically cleared, according to the release.
