All flames extinguished after fires ignited along I-25 in Pueblo County
Fire crews have extinguished four brush fires along a mile and a half stretch on the west side of Interstate 25 from mile markers 86 to 88, according to Facebook posts by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
The fires ranged in size from a half acre to one and a half acres. Low visibility had previously been reported due to smoke, but the office is still advising drivers to be cautious.
As of Thursday afternoon, fire crews were in a mop-up stage and the right southbound lane of I-25 from mile marker 85 to 87 is closed.
From 1:30 to 2:40 p.m. firefighters from eight fire agencies responded to the brush fires and subsequently extinguished them. According to the posts, those agencies included Rye Fire, Pueblo City Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire, Pueblo Chemical Depot and West Park Fire.
