Where good news shines

Costen Cooley is the center of attention for Air Force football.

Cooley, a senior, was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list, the organization said Friday. Cooley is one of 40 centers named to a list that serves to award the most outstanding center in Division I football.

A Mesa, Ariz., product, Cooley was a second-team All-Mountain West pick last season. Troy Calhoun’s 2024 Falcons averaged 224 rushing yards per game, which ranked fourth in the league and 10th nationally.

The Rimington Trophy committee works with Pro Football Focus to name the top center in college ball. Air Force opens its season at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, against Bucknell at Falcon Stadium.
