Two people are dead and a third has been hospitalized after a car rolled down the side of a mountain south of Ouray Tuesday morning.
Police first responded to the reports of a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 550 on Red Mountain Pass, about 13 miles south of Ouray, just after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to a news release from Colorado State Patrol.

The car had three occupants inside, police said. Two, both adults, were pronounced dead on the scene after crews responded. The third, a juvenile female passenger, was rescued from the vehicle about three hours after crews arrived and taken to the hospital.
There is no guardrail along the highway where the incident took place, police said.
The southbound lane of Highway 550 is closed at this time for the investigation into the incident, CSP said. There is currently no timetable for its reopening. Southbound traffic will be alternated through the northbound lane.
Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with investigators is asked to contact CSP at 970-249-4392.
