What does it mean to live “unto Jesus” as a Christian today?

Fourteen Christian influencers from around the nation provide answers in sharing their stories related to hot topics and thoughtfully bantering in an unscripted podcast that debuted in May.

And now, the Compassion International-produced podcast called “Nuance” is getting more public exposure.

In a new partnership, the 13-episode series begins airing Thursday on Great American Media’s Pure Flix, a faith and family focused streaming service that’s available on devices including television and mobile phones.

“This is a big deal for us — it’s our first time to ever have a network pick up one of our shows,” said Tim Glenn, a spokesman for Colorado Springs-based Compassion International.

The organization works with more than 8,900 churches in 29 countries to deliver spiritual, economic, social and physical care to 2 million impoverished children and young adults, with financial support from 1.3 million worldwide sponsors.

“It’s an opportunity for us to introduce our ministry to a brand new audience of like-minded believers who want wholesome content that shows the impact the church is making around the world,” Glenn said of the expansion.

'Achoo' — 'God bless you' — ancient phrase nearly seven centuries old and going strong

Nuance is part of Compassion’s “Unto Jesus” initiative inspired by Jesus’ call in the book of Matthew for his followers to “serve the least among us.”

Episodes explore how people who disagree on issues can converse with each other in a way that models Jesus.

“It’s content that can really nourish people and challenge them in ways of living in compassion — whether it’s in their own community or around the world,” said Andrew Kooman, brand partnership lead.

The series was shot in April in Franklin, Tenn., inside an old church that’s been converted to a concert venue. Participants include a mixture of people from all walks of life, working as pastor, CEO, entrepreneur, counselor, author and Food Network cooking show host Aarti Sequeira.

“This project has allowed me to be a part of some incredible conversations that have frankly breathed new life into me,” Sequeira said in a statement. “Life can sometimes be so overwhelming, but over the course of talking to all my new friends in this effort, I’ve come to realize that living unto Jesus is a clarifying call.”

Featured speakers “model honest, vulnerable and good faith conversation,” Kooman said. “Anyone who tunes in will be inspired.”

Uniting the work of Compassion International and Great American Media came about in an organic way, born out of relationships from some of the influencers.

“It’s showing Christians in media partnering together,” Kooman said. “The world needs more positive content that brings people together.”

The podcast has released one episode per week since launching in May and has two left, he said. It can be heard on Compassion’s website at Compassion.com/untojesus.

The podcast also is available on Spotify, Apple and other platforms. Some clips of the program on Facebook have gone viral, Kooman said.

The television version on Pure Flix can be seen on pureflix.com beginning Thursday. Four episodes will be released then, with once-weekly showings afterward. Viewers can also access the show through Samsung Plus.

“Every act of compassion for those in need is an act of love unto Jesus,” creators say. “Join us as we explore how to live out Mathew 25 — serving others, strengthening communities and growing in faith through meaningful action.”
