Colorado Springs weather: Morning showers on Monday before afternoon thunderstorms and possible hail

colorado weather

Colorado Springs residents can expect more moisture on Monday with cloudy skies and showers and a high of 90, with hazardous weather conditions expected in the afternoon with a chance for small hail to form.

We will continue to see moisture in the pipeline for Monday following into Tuesday, according to Gazette news partner KOAA, and the National Weather Service.

Highs will remain around 3-5 degrees above average early this week, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms across Southern Colorado.More here:https://www.koaa.com/weather/rinse-and-repeat-early-this-week-as-our-afternoons-remain-hot-and-stormyFollow us on Social Media!FB:https://www.facebook.com/KOAA/IG:https://www.instagram.com/koaa_5X:https://twitter.com/KOAABlue Sky:https://bsky.app/profile/koaa5.bsky.socialGet our App:https://www.koaa.com/appsMore at:https://www.koaa.com/

“Storms will be most widespread over the mountains and valleys, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms along and east of I-25 late this afternoon and evening,” KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose said. “Storms today will be capable of heavy rainfall, wind gusts to 50 mph and small hail.”

Highs today will remain hot with highs reaching the lower 90s much like on Sunday. Out on the eastern plains highs on Monday will climb in the middle to upper 90s with a few spots expecting triple digit heat.

“Initially, we won’t see much change on Tuesday as highs are expected to return to near 90 degrees in the Springs,” Rose said. “Along with the heat, we’ll continue to see isolated to scattered thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon in the Pikes Peak Region.”

Moisture will expand across Colorado by Wednesday with numerous showers and thunderstorms expected for the Pikes Peak region.

“Highs will cool back down to the 80s from Wednesday to Thursday, with the cool down coming due to an uptick in storms,” Rose said. “Friday will be a transition day with fewer storms, followed by a return to heat and mostly dry skies this weekend.”
