You can start filling up your calendars with Colorado Avalanche game times.

The NHL on Wednesday released the full 82-game schedule for the 2025-26 season. The season begins October 7 with three games, including Colorado’s season opener, and concludes April 16. Here are some interesting nuggets from the Avalanche schedule, as well as some big dates to keep an eye on:

Home opener

Colorado get its first look at the Utah Mammoth (not Hockey Club) almost immediately, as the latter’s first game at Ball Arena will be against them on Thursday, Oct. 9.

Afternoon delight

If you like afternoon games, you’ll love this schedule. The Avalanche will play a franchise-record 18 matinees, surpassing the previous high of 15.

Halloween in Vegas

It’s common to have scary nights you’d prefer to forget in Las Vegas, so why not play hockey there on Halloween? The Avalanche will take on the Golden Knights in Vegas in an afternoon affair on Friday, Oct. 31, which is Nevada Day.

Long homestand

Colorado’s longest homestand takes place from Jan. 8-23 when they play seven straight games at Ball Arena. It’s their longest homestand since the 2020-21 campaign.

And … break

The Avalanche will be well represented at the Winter Olympics in February, which will cause the league to pause from Feb. 6-24. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Gabriel Landeskog have already been named to their teams by their respective countries and more will follow.

Olympics means compacted schedule

If the league is going to pause for nearly three weeks, that means the schedule is going to get awfully tight. Jared Bednar won’t get in many practices next season. Colorado will play 27 games in the final 51 days of the season after the NHL returns from the Olympics. Every team must deal with a similarly compacted schedule.

Homecomings

Brock Nelson returns to Long Island on Thursday, Dec. 4, for the first time as a member of the opposing team. The same can be said for Martin Necas, who is set to play in Carolina on Jan. 3 for the first time since being acquired by the Avalanche last season.
