Weather alert: Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of El Paso County
The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Calhan and Ramah areas until 5:15 p.m. Monday. The warning includes wind of up to 60 mph and possible quarter-sized hail.
Several weather alerts have been issued in southern Colorado, including a severe thunderstorm warning for Pueblo County until 5:50 p.m.
Monday’s forecast
The Pikes Peak region was expected to see partly sunny skies Monday morning with a high of 89, then some afternoon thunderstorms and showers.
Small hail was possible from some of the strongest storms. If headed to Calhan for the El Paso County Fair day, a similar picture: patchy morning clouds with seasonal summer temperatures in the 80s, and storm chances in the afternoon and evening.
A monsoon-like pattern is in the cards for the end of week into this weekend, keeping daily storm chances in the forecast and highs remaining near average.

Tuesday: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 93. North wind 5 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 87. Light and variable wind becoming south southeast 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Friday: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon.
