Motorcyclist killed in Powers Boulevard crash on June 10 identified
The driver in a fatal motorcycle crash June 10 on North Powers Boulevard has been identified, according to a news release from Colorado Springs police.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased rider as Nicholas Navarino, 38.
The crash happened around 12:40 a.m., just south of Interquest Parkway. Police said they arrived to find the rider suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Police said the motorcyclist was traveling north on Powers Boulevard at a high rate of speed and couldn’t navigate a curve in the roadway. The rider went off the left side of the road and crashed along the center median.
The Police Department says Navarino was the 17th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year there were 27 traffic deaths. In the past 365 days, 39 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs have been reported.
