Woman who died in Pueblo County jail identified by county coroner

The 32-year-old woman who died in Pueblo County jail after being found unresponsive in her cell has been identified by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.

Deputies in the jail found Jewelli Carrillo in her cell Tuesday afternoon. Deputies, jail medical personnel and later paramedics with Pueblo Fire and American Medical Response attempted to render aid.

She was transported to a local hospital with a weak heartbeat and later pronounced dead. Carrillo had been in jail for one day prior to the incident.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case, stating Tuesday that preliminary findings indicate there was no sign of foul play.
