Manitou Springs Fire Department to conduct fire training Sunday
On Sunday, the Manitou Springs Fire Department will conduct a wildland fire training exercise from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Deer Valley Nature Park.
During the training, residents and visitors may notice smoke and fire equipment in the area as part of the drill, and not part of an emergency.
The goal of the training is to keep firefighters fresh on wildland fire scenarios, according to the department, especially as fire dangers increase during the summer months.
The last wildland fire training conducted by the Manitou Springs department was on June 10.
