On Wednesday, a trench collapse in the 1200 block of Kachina Drive in Cimarron Hills buried a man up to his shoulders. He was trapped for two hours before being successfully rescued.

The Cimarron Hills Fire Department requested the assistance of the Colorado Springs Fire Department’s heavy rescue and trench rescue teams. Six CSFD rescue teams and a Colorado Springs Utilities vacuum truck assisted in the rescue mission. El Paso County sheriff’s deputies and members of El Paso County Public Works Department also aided in the mission.

The victim was taken to a local hospital after being successfully removed from the trench.

“Incidents like these require special skills, knowledge and coordination,” the Cimarron Hills Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post. “Critical partnerships save lives!”
