An unusual but “ridiculously adorable” rescue unfolded near a popular park in Colorado Springs Tuesday.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to reports of a 650-pound bull moose near Cottonwood Creek Park on the city’s north side, according to social media posts from the departments.

Wildlife officials said moose are great at hide-and-seek, but crews were able to locate the moose and immobilize it. Fire crews helped cool it down with water and place it in a trailer for transport, the wildlife department said.

“Not your everyday rescue call — but when our friends at @CPW_SE call when a baby moose needs help, we show up,” the fire department said on X.

The moose, likely a few years old, was later relocated to a “better habitat” in the southeastern part of the region, according to officials.

Moose can occasionally be found wandering along the Front Range, including the Colorado Springs area, and should never be approached too closely, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s website.
