A motorcycle collision in the 2400 block of East Bijou Street killed one person and hospitalized another on Friday, Colorado Springs police said.

A black motorcycle was seen traveling westbound on East Bijou Street above the speed limit, according to witness accounts. The motorcycle collided with a sedan that was heading southbound, exiting Platte Place, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency personnel, and the driver of the car was taken to a hospital, according to a CSPD blotter entry.

The Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team is handling the ongoing investigation.
