Rockfall mitigation work on U.S. 24 will result in lane closures and reduced speeds on the highway over the next two weeks, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday–Wednesday, and again from June 23-25 along the eastbound lanes of the highway, from mile marker 293 to mile marker 298 through Ute Pass Canyon, CDOT officials said. Eastbound motorists will be diverted to the westbound left lane, where they will experience single-lane, head-to-head traffic. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph in the work zone, the release stated.

Drivers are advised to plan for delays, slow down as they get close to the work zone, and drive carefully, allowing extra space between vehicles.
