Vehicle theft suspect arrested by El Paso County Sheriff’s Office
El Paso County’s sheriff’s office is celebrating an arrest of a suspect it says was involved in identity theft and motor vehicle theft.
In the early morning hours of June 10, deputies were conducting a patrol check at the Econo Lodge Hotel, located at 6715 Panamint Court in unincorporated El Paso County when they spotted an unoccupied black Chevrolet Silverado with a fake temporary license plate. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in March 2025.
Deputies say a search of the vehicle uncovered mail, checks, and other documents bearing the name “Brandy Cheeks.”
Deputies checked with the hotel staff, and subsequently contacted Brandy Cheek, a 33-year-old female, in one of the hotel rooms. Cheek was found in possession of the stolen vehicle’s keys and approximately 0.57 grams of methamphetamine. Deputies say they also discovered that she had an active felony warrant for identity theft.
Cheek was arrested and booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of identity theft, forgery, motor vehicle theft and drug possession.
She has since been released on bond. Her first court date is June 20.
