Court documents reveal the fatal stabbing of Camden Mills on Tuesday night was recorded on a residential camera.

Early Wednesday morning Colorado Springs police arrested Daveione Manning, 22, on suspicion of first-degree murder for a stabbing that occurred at Greentree Village Apartments near North Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle.

According to Manning’s arrest warrant, he was let into a third party’s apartment with Mills, 23, when Manning immediately started a verbal and physical argument with another man there.

There is camera footage from the residence of Manning and the man’s altercation described in the arrest document. The footage shows Mills and the man restraining Manning, telling him to calm down.

After Manning appeared to be calm, they released him and he proceeded to threaten to kill the people at the apartment.

Mills and Manning then got into a physical fight, with Mills saying, “Stop playing with me, that’s the third time you done pulled a gun on me today.”

After the altercation, police say the footage shows Manning entering and exiting the camera view. As Mills was leaving the apartment, Manning is seen charging him, stabbing him in the chest with a kitchen knife.

After he is stabbed, Mills is seen pushing Manning to the floor, kicking him in the head, then walking out of camera view.

Moments later, police say footage shows Mills falling to the floor, and a male voice shouting, “He’s bleeding, he’s bleeding.”

Manning is then recorded running from the apartment.

Police arrived on the scene and made contact with Manning in the parking lot, where he was detained.

First responders to the apartment found Mills unresponsive. CPR was performed, but Mills was pronounced dead on the scene.

Court records show Manning has had run-ins with the law previously, with an attempted sexual assault charge in 2023, and a felony menacing charge in 2024.

Manning is being held on a mental health hold in the El Paso County jail, according to records. He faces a charge of first-degree murder. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 16.
