A beloved summer tradition returned to Monument as the town kicked off its annual Concerts in the Park series June 4 at Limbach Park, despite a chilly start.

The traditional music event series runs through August 27 with the exception of July 2.

While the weekly series is wildly popular with residents of the Tri-Lakes area, light precipitation and colder temperatures kept the attendance at approximately 50 people for the kickoff.

Opening the series on June 4 was Cactus Cat, a psychedelic indie rock band from Fort Collins, formed in 2017. Known for their genre-blending sound, the group describes their style as “adventure rock.” Drawing from cumbia, post-rock and other influences, the band has built a following through energetic live shows.

The performance was the band’s inaugural appearance at Limbach Park while attendees commented on the group’s vocals and dual saxophones.

The free outdoor concerts run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and have become a local staple for more than a decade, offering residents and visitors a midweek escape with live music and community fun. Food trucks are regularly on-site each week, making it easy for patrons to enjoy dinner while taking in the show.

Monument Mayor Mitch LaKind, who was in attendance for the series’ opener, praised the continued success of the town’s popular Concerts in the Park series, crediting the dedication of town staff and the community’s strong support.

“Our concert series thrives because of the incredible work of our staff—especially Portia [Hermann] and the public works team,” LaKind said. “She brings in great bands and sponsors, and our residents show up to enjoy the music, the food trucks, and those perfect Monument evenings.”

LaKind noted the events have become a summer highlight thanks to a shared effort and the welcoming atmosphere that draws hundreds to Limbach Park each week.

The rest of this year’s concert lineup includes Kopesetic on June 11, a Colorado Springs rock cover band known for high-energy performances and a wide mix of hits from the ’80s to today. With a setlist of over 100 songs, they blend rock and country styles to keep crowds dancing.

On June 18, King Stan Band brings a lively mix of rock, soul, funk, and country to the series. Known for their powerhouse horn section and unique covers of artists like Tedeschi Trucks Band, the group is known for delivering a dynamic live show.

Hot Boots Band, June 25, a Colorado Springs-based variety group known for its blend of rock, country, pop, and jazz, appears with decades of combined experience. Their flexible lineup can scale from a duo to a full band.

The Ashtonz, July 9, is a variety band hailing from Monument, and have been entertaining audiences with their eclectic mix of rock, pop, country, and folk tunes for years. Originally formed in Evergreen, the group has become a local favorite, known for their engaging performances and humorous stage presence. Led by guitarist and vocalist Charlie Searle, the band delivers a fun, user-friendly musical experience.

Mimic, a Colorado Springs-based classic rock cover band, performs July 16 and again on August 27. Known for their high-energy renditions of hits from the 1960s through the 1990s, Mimic has built a loyal following across the Pikes Peak region. Their setlists feature crowd favorites from artists like Tom Petty, 38 Special, and more.

The 719 Band, July 23, is a Colorado Springs-based group, known for their dynamic performances blending soulful vocals and sizzling guitar riffs. They have become a staple in the local music scene, captivating audiences with their renditions of classics like “Superstition” and delivering an engaging stage presence.

On July 30, Skin&Bones, a Colorado Springs-based rock cover band, takes the Limbach Park stage and has been energizing audiences across southern Colorado since 2012. Dubbed the “Eclectic Rock Jukebox,” their setlist spans over four decades, featuring hits that get crowds dancing and singing along. Known for their dynamic stage presence and versatility, they’ve gained notoriety at local venues, festivals, and private events.

Vinyl Nation, Aug. 6, is a Highlands Ranch-based rock band, known for delivering high-energy performances featuring hits from the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s. Their setlist includes songs from artists like The Clash, The Cure, U2, and Foo Fighters in a performance fitting for the concert series.

On Aug. 13, the Colorado Springs-based band Mojo Filter takes the stage in Limbach. They are known for blending rock, funk, blues, and soul, bringing a high-energy show. Their mix of classic covers and originals has made them a regional favorite.

WireWood Station, an award-winning Americana band from Monument, blends bluegrass, folk, rock, and country into a high-energy sound. Known for their tight harmonies and dynamic performances, they’ve played venues from Red Rocks to Carnegie Hall. The band will perform at Limbach on Aug. 20.
