Palmer Lake Mayor Glant Havenar resigns after 12 years of public service

Glant Havenar, who has served in nearly every key leadership role in Palmer Lake’s local government over the past 12 years, announced her resignation as mayor, effective June 5.

In a public letter released the day prior, Havenar reflected on her years of service and expressed deep appreciation for the community, town Board of Trustees, and staff.

“It is with a full heart and deep reflection that I tender my resignation,” she wrote. “Serving this town for the past 12 years—in many capacities—has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Havenar began her civic career as a volunteer on the town’s Parks Committee before being elected as a trustee. She went on to serve as mayor pro tem, chair the Comprehensive Planning Committee, and sit on both the Budget Advisory Committee and the Economic Development Committee.

During her time in the mayor’s seat, Havenar became known for her hands-on leadership style, frequently seen at community clean-up days, holiday events, and public workshops. She oversaw multiple infrastructure upgrades, advocated for water resource protection, and played a key role in preserving open space and expanding recreational amenities in the mountain town.

In her resignation letter, Havenar voiced confidence in the current Town Board.

“They are good people with sincere intentions,” she wrote, urging residents to support the board and continue engaging in civic life. “Fight for them when necessary. Stand by them when it matters most.”

To residents, she offered encouragement and a call to unity.

“Don’t let the bullies win. Your voice, your courage, and your unity are what makes Palmer Lake a place worth believing in,” she said.

Though Havenar did not cite a specific reason for her resignation, she ended her letter with gratitude.

“Thank you for the trust, the support, and the memories,” she said. “I will always carry this town in my heart.”
