Colorado Springs police are searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run of an officer Tuesday morning after they were found passed out in their vehicle with drugs in plain view, according to an online blotter entry.

Officers responded to a call at the 5300 block of Palomino Ranch Point, near North Powers and Stetson Hills boulevards, around 7:30 a.m. after the caller said two occupants appeared to be in “unnatural positions” in the vehicle.

The occupants were reportedly asleep but drove off and struck an officer once they were roused. The officer was uninjured, police said.

Minutes later, another caller said the vehicle had been driving recklessly and struck a landscaping boulder at an apartment complex a few miles north of the original call. The caller told police they saw the occupants running from the area.

Officers found the passenger of the vehicle and were able to identify the driver, who is wanted for multiple charges including felony assault of a peace officer.

The driver’s name and description were not immediately released by law enforcement.
