Colorado Springs driver arrested after single-vehicle crash, intersection under repair
The intersection at East Bijou Street and Interstate 25 was under repair Saturday following a suspected DUI crash overnight.
The Colorado Springs Police Department was dispatched for the crash around 2 a.m. and found the driver, identified by police as Jose Rodriguez, 39, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by officers. Police said Rodriguez was arrested and released on a summons after being cited for various traffic-related offenses. He was issued a court date.
The intersection had no working traffic lights following the crash, police said.
Police estimated that the intersection would reopen in the afternoon.
