After an agreement of the employment contract the same evening, the Monument Town Council approved the appointment of Madeline VanDenHoek as the new town manager.

The appointment was made official during the council’s regular meeting May 19 at Monument Town Hall following a unanimous vote and a formal swearing-in.

VanDenHoek, who had been serving as interim town manager, has worked with Monument in various roles since 2013, including community engagement director and director of parks. Her long-standing involvement in town government and collaborative leadership approach were key factors in her selection.

“Madeline has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Monument’s future,” said Mayor Mitch LaKind. “She brings institutional knowledge, proven leadership, and a steady hand to this critical role. We are confident in her ability to lead the organization with professionalism, vision and integrity.”

In her new role, VanDenHoek will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing the municipal budget and executing policies set by the Town Council. Councilmembers praised her understanding of the community, transparency in government and efforts to strengthen infrastructure and long-term planning during the hiring process.

“I am honored to be chosen as Monument’s town manager and am excited to serve our community,” VanDenHoek said. “My hope is to continue to foster a vibrant and thriving community with a promising future.”

Her appointment took effect immediately.

VanDenHoek had been serving as interim town manager for the past eight months and was previously selected as the leading candidate during a special meeting held May 8 at town hall. The decision followed a thorough internal hiring process which began with a job posting on Feb. 27 and concluded with interviews and scoring assessments conducted by the council.

She said her leadership priorities include community-driven development, fiscal responsibility and enhancing quality of life.
