Katy Perry concert rescheduled due to Nuggets Game 6 at Ball Arena Thursday

Baby, there’ll be fireworks at Ball Arena on Thursday.

But, it’ll be Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference Semifinals between the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder taking center stage instead of Katy Perry.

Ball Arena on Tuesday announced Perry’s concert, originally scheduled for May 15, had been rescheduled for July 10.

As recently as Tuesday morning, tickets for both events were still being sold, scheduled opposite one another.

The Nuggets, a dark horse entering the series, have been hot and then cold over the past week, after stealing Game 1 in Oklahoma City, dropping Game 2 by 43 points, winning Game 3 in overtime and then coughing up a fourth quarter lead in Game 4, making Game 6 necessary in the best-of-7 series.

Perry, on the other hand, has been out of this world lately (literally, she just went to space). But now her Denver tour date — which was announced back in January — will have to wait until July 10 to launch.

Last month, Kylie Minogue’s concert ran up against the Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Game 5 and it was ultimately canceled.

The Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Ball Arena are owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. Various contracts with concert promoters always stipulate that NBA and NHL teams get first scheduling priority at this time of year, when schedules are determined by the leagues as the four rounds of playoff series proceed.
