Colorado snow totals for Saturday April 19
A spring snowstorm that moved into Colorado on Friday dropped more than a foot of snow in parts of the state’s high country, while totals varied widely in lower elevations.
In the Colorado Springs area, 6.1 inches was reported on the city’s west side. Black Forest and Peterson Space Force Base each saw 3 inches.
Further south, Pueblo West recorded 6.9 inches. More than 8 inches was reported in Canon City and Penrose saw 4 inches. A Winter Storm Warning remained in effect through 4 p.m. Saturday for parts of Fremont County, including Buena Vista, Salida, Westcliffe, and Penrose.
In the Denver metro area, some areas received 8 or more inches—including Golden, Boulder and Lakewood.
Much of the area received between 2 and 5 inches though, including Denver, which reported 3.9 inches, Aurora, which saw 2 inches and Westminster, where 4.9 inches fell. Just 0.06 inches fell at Denver International Airport, where hundreds of flights were delayed on Friday.
In the high country, Conifer and Loveland Pass saw the highest totals, with 17 and 16.8 inches, respectively. Eldora and Breckenridge both reported 12 inches. Salida and Westcliffe each received 14 inches.
A Winter Storm Warning remained in effect for parts of the southwest, including the San Juan, Sangre de Cristo, and Wet mountains until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Flight delays and weekend outlook
The storm was expected to clear out of the Front Range by Saturday. Warmer, sunnier weather will return just in time for Easter Sunday.
As of Saturday afternoon, Denver International Airport had reported 162 flight delays and two cancellations. The Colorado Springs Airport had reported 14 delays and two cancellations.
